This is my first Dark Pictures game; do I need to have played the others?

No, all Dark Pictures Games are standalone and can be played in any order. Directive 8020 is a standalone narrative horror adventure set within the unsettling abyss of space. This narrative experience melds sci-fi exploration with spine-chilling horror, where every choice could lead to a disastrous death. 

For fans of our previous games, you’ll be pleased to know that the DNA of the Dark Pictures is still present – from branching plotlines to impossible choices and split second QTE’s. But as you’ll see, we’ve redesigned, polished, and amped up our gameplay to bring more horror and threat when exploring the environment.
